Move & Groove Game Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Our family recently received a fun game from Thinkfun called Moove & Groove that is just about perfect for toddlers but is also fun for kids of older ages too! According to Thinkfun, the game is “Designed to inspire movement, creativity, laughter and learning, it’s a fun way to introduce the basics of game play and the joy of movement without the pressure of competition. The rules are simple—toss the plush cube to determine color, choose a matching colored card and perform the given move. There’s no right or wrong way to boogie—it’s all up to interpretation—so players can use their imagination while improving balance, coordination and flexibility. The perfect game to build confidence and celebrate all the things your little one does so well!  [For ages 18 months and up [and] includes large washable plush cube with storage pocket for cards and  48 dance move cards-8 in each category.”

I had high hopes of my then 15 month old twins really playing with this game…but they were too young. However, they LOVED the plush, multi-colored game cube! They both would tackle it and roll around with it, proving that the game’s design really is captivating for children. So in order to get a true feel for how kids reacted to this game I enlisted the help of my friend’s 6 year old daughter. She loved it! This sort of game, with easy instructions, no hard and fast rules, and fast moving fun is apparently exactly what kids her age love.

I think one of the greatest things about this game is that it really encourages the imagination and it get kids active. I worry so much about my children becoming mindless zombies glued to electronic devices (like me) and I am glad to see active games like this geared toward younger kids! Another benefit of this game is that it can help kids learn colors, direction, body parts, etc. It truly seems to be a beneficial and educational game.

Another great quality is that this game doesn’t require batteries! Also, it is so easy to take along with you. I can just see moms entertaining kids in waiting rooms and doctors’ offices with Move & Groove. This is a great low cost, low noise, low stress family fun item.
